Thanksgiving is just around the corner which means the smell of turkey and homemade pie will soon be a welcoming aroma in your kitchen. Loved ones and friends will soon gather to give thanks and enjoy a home cooked meal. During this time numerous dishes will be baked or boiled in your kitchen resulting in your stove working overtime. It is important that the air in your kitchen is clean and proper ventilation is being used. Smoke, grease, heat, steam and odors are byproducts of your cooking every time a meal is prepared. It is essential that your range hood is properly maintained to remove any unwanted impurities out of this space.
Below are some tips on how you can keep your range hood clean and functioning properly:
- Clean your range hood – Stainless steel cleaner should be used on all stainless range hoods. Abrasives and scouring agents can scratch stainless steel finishes and should not be used to clean finished surfaces.
- Clean your grease filters – The filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage. The metal grease filters should be cleaned frequently in hot detergent solution or washed in the dishwasher. Remove all water or any other liquid from washing before re-installing filters.
- Replace Charcoal Filters – If you have a recirculating hood, keep in mind that the charcoal filters must be replaced every four months of operation or more frequently with heavy use.
We hope these simple tips will make your holiday cooking more enjoyable. Faber USA would like to wish everyone a safe and happy thanksgiving!
